Country Sour

The foundation of Fiddle & Stone. This naturally leavened, long fermentation sourdough is most closely described as a San Francisco Sourdough. Point of fact, I use a 34-year-old culture from San Francisco when making it! A surprisingly complex bread considering it has only flour, water and salt as ingredients.

Here’s to rye! A long fermented, naturally leavened sourdough bread made from locally grown and milled whole rye. Not the caraway laden pumpernickel, but a bread that really exemplifies the depth and complex flavors freshly milled rye flour possesses.
